Friday marked the release of the annual Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Tennis Preseason Poll. The poll ranks each of the 12 schools that sponsor women's tennis, as voted on by the coaches. Hollins was picked to finish 11th, one spot ahead of her biggest rival, Sweet Briar College.
Hollins will enter the 2016-17 spring season with a roster of 10, five returners and five newcomers. The returners include a senior and a pair of juniors that bring a tremendous amount of ODAC experience to the table. Htet Myat San enters her final season in a Hollins uniform. She will be joined by Jhovanna Salmeron and Ameilia Verkerk, giving Hollins a trio of players that will playing their third consecutive ODAC season. With that experienced leadership in place, Hollins will look to a group of talented first-years to rebound from 2015-16 season that ended without an invitation to the, season ending, ODAC Tournament.
The schedule will feature nine home matches, seven against ODAC competition. The season will get started in early March with a visit from a pair of ODAC foes. Hollins first match will be March 3rd when they host Guilford College in advance of a March 8th visit from Lynchburg College. Hollins conference schedule will wrap up on April 12th when they host their arch rivals from Sweet Briar, with their final home match coming one day later against Trinity (DC).
