Athletic Trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians and specialize in the prevention, emergency care, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and sport-related illness. The certified athletic trainer is responsible for all eight intercollegiate sports and provides care for all home competitions and practices at Hollins University.

Kaitlyn Moffett (Costa) was named athletic trainer in August 2014. She came to Hollins after completing her master’s degree in kinesiology at James Madison University, where she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years.
Moffett worked with five different Division I athletic programs while earning her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Radford University. In the master's program at JMU, she gained extensive experience with 18 varsity programs and the university’s sports medicine staff. Moffett is certified as a Virginia Licensed Athletic Trainer, and is a member of the Virginia Athletic Training Association and the National Athletic Training Association.
The Harrisonburg, Virginia, native is responsible for all eight of Hollins' NCAA Division III athletic programs as well as the riding program.
