Event: Riding - Hollins hosts Spring IHSA (Roanoke, VA)

The lead: he Hollins riding team hosted their 2019 Spring Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) event on Saturday. IHSA founder Bob Cacchione stopped by the event as Hollins finished third in the eight team show.

The result:

  1. University of Virginia - 37
  2. Bridgewater - 35
  3. Hollins - 26
  4. James Madison - 22
  5. Randolph - 21
  6. Washington and Lee - 19
  7. Lynchburg - 16
  8. Roanoke - 7

How it happened: Hollins would see a trio of individual riders earn top three finishes. One each of a first and second, to go with a pair of third place ribbons would pace the Green and Gold to a third place finish in the spring IHSA event hosted on their campus. The University of Virginia would be named Champion with Bridgewater College taking home Reserve Champion honors.

Hollins notes:

  • Caitlyn Sheffer would pace Hollins with a first place finish in Open Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat and a third place effort over Fences
  • Hollins would  add a second place ribbon when Logan Landfried finished runner-up in Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences
  • Sarah Grace Himes would round out the top three finished with a third place in Walk-Trot Hunter Seat Equitation

What's next: Hollins will load up the vans and travel to the Hill City tomorrow for an IHSA event co-hosted by Sweet Briar and Lynchburg.
