Caitlyn Sheffer finished 1st and 2nd at Zone Finals

Event: Riding - Zone 4 Finals (Bridgewater, VA)

Result: Caitlyn Sheffer 1st Open on the Flat and 2nd Open over Fences

How it Happened: Caitlyn Sheffer represented Hollins Riding at Zone 4 Finals in Open Flat and Open Fences.  She competed against 9 other riders in each class who also placed first or second at their regional championships to advance to zones.  Caitlyn rode Coffee in Open Flat, the same horse she rode at our last regular season show and qualified for regionals.

The judge, R. Scott Evans, worked the riders hard, including having them drop their irons for the entire second direction.  When the results were in, Caitlyn took top honors and secured her spot for Open Flat at the IHSA National Championship in Syracuse, NY on May 2nd.  Caitlyn's second ride was for Open Fences.  Continuing with the consistency in horse draw, Caitlyn rode Firefly, the same horse she jumped at our last regular season show.  She was the last rider on course and she put in a great trip.  As the results were read out in reverse order, Caitlyn ended up the Zone 4 Reserve Champion for Open Fences.

What's next: Sheffer will represent Hollins at the IHSA Nationals on May 2nd.
