Bridgewater, VA - On the second to last weekend of the regular season, Hollins traveled to Bridgewater to face the Eagles in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The Eagles came into the game looking to stay near the top of the conference standings while a shorthanded Hollins squad made the trip looking to pull off the upset.
The visitors would face an uphill battle all afternoon long, as Hollins had to play a player down throughout the match due to injuries. The Eagles took full advantage of their guests woes and scored twice in the game's first two minutes of play. Two more Bridgewater scores made it 4-0, just 10 minutes in. Hollins began to figure out the Eagle attack and at the half it was the home team enjoying a 9-0 advantage. The second half saw Bridgewater out-shoot Hollins by 19 attempts and as the final horn sounded, the Eagles had solidified their spot in the top eight with a 13-0 ODAC win.
Keeper Hannah Armstrong regisitered seven saves while facing 49 Bridgewater shots.
Kelly Patterson and Isabella Krider each scored twice for the home team with Alyssa Pearson went the distance in net to earn the shutout.
Hollins will have a week to get healthy as the lone game left on their regular season schedule is a trip to Sweet Briar. Hollins will travel to their arch rivals on Saturday, October 29th for a non start.
