The Hollins swim team sits in 8th after one day of competition

The event: Swimming - Hollins at the Yellow Jacket Invitational (Ashland, VA)
The lead: The Hollins swim team traveled to Ashland to compete in the, two day, Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon College. The Green and Gold would do battle with several different teams from the mid-Atlantic area.

How it happened: Day on of the event consisted of five events, two relay and three individual races. Hollins best finish was in the opening event, the 200 Freestyle Relay, while their top individual effort came when teammates finished 22nd and 23rd in the 50 Freestyle.
Hollins notes:
- The team of Hanna DeVarona, Maya Schattgen, Molly Sullivan, and Emily Miehlke came home 13th in the 200 FS Relay and secured 28 points
- In the 50 Freestyle, DeVarona (26.74) touched just ahead of Schattgen (26.78)
- Miehlke scored points in the night's longest event, the 500 Freestyle
What's next: Hollins will return to the pool tomorrow morning for the second day of competition.
