Ashland, VA - The Hollins tennis team traveled to Randolph-Macon in their first road match of the 2017 season. The match with the Yellow Jackets marks the only time in the first five scheduled matches that the young squad will not be defending her home courts at the Batten Tennis Center. Hollins was able to even their record at 1-1 after defeating Guilford College last Friday afternoon but faced a tough test against Macon.
All three doubles matches went to the Yellow Jackets. Hollins best finish came when Jhovanna Salmeron and Htet Myat San fell at #1 by the score of 8-2, the same score that Kateri Johnson and Casey Mahan finsihed with at #3.
Leading 3-0 heading into singles play, Randolph-Macon continued to control the match as the home team cruised to a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory. After winning her first two ODAC matches of the season, Johnson was defeated for the first time in her collegiate career when the first-year fell at #5 singles.
