Hollins fell, 5-0, to the nation's 22nd ranked team

Event: Tennis - Washington and Lee (22) vs. Hollins (Lexington, VA)

The lead: The Hollins tennis team was back in action after the wet weather forced a postponement with Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon. The Green and Gold made the short trip north to Lexington to face the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leading Generals of Washington and Lee on Sunday morning.

The result: Washington and Lee 5-0

How it happened: The Generals swept the three doubles matches without allowing the visitors to take a single game. With only having two indoor courts available, the match was called at 5-0 after the Generals took #1 and #2 singles.

Hollins notes:

  • The match was moved to the Duchossois Tennis Center due to the wet weather in the Roanoke Valley
  • The Generals came into the match ranked 22nd in the most recent NCAA DIII Women's Tennis National Poll
  • It was the second straight match against the ODAC's top teams

What's next: Hollins is scheduled to go across town to face Roanoke College tomorrow afternoon. However with a tornado watch in the Roanoke area until 8:00pm on Sunday night, check www.HollinsSports.com for scheduling updates.
