Hollins Second at Lynchburg IHSA, Takes Top Spot in Region

SWEET BRIAR, Va. - After a third place finish at the Bridgewater IHSA on Saturday, the Hollins riding team regained the top spot in the regional team standings with a reserve champion finish Sunday at the Lynchburg IHSA, hosted by Sweet Briar College. 

The team picked up 40 points, just one point behind the day's champion, Washington and Lee. 

Kaitlyn Okin picked up a first place in intermediate flat and June Garvin grabbed a first in limit flat. Morgan DeWitt (first in novice flat) and Alex Sanchez (first in intro) continued their strong start to the season, helping Hollins secure their spot. Caitlyn Sheffer grabbed a second in open flat and Katelyn Mosmiller picked up a third in limit fences. 

Hollins 110 points currently leads the region, followed by Washington and Lee and Virginia Tech with 106 and UVA with 105.

What's Next

Hollins will have next weekend off before traveling to Charlottesville on Nov. 2 for the UVA IHSA.
