Swimming Splits Opening Tri-Meet

SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Hollins swim team kicked off ODAC competition on Saturday, facing off against Roanoke and Sweet Briar. 

The Green and Gold fell to Roanoke, 150-35, before rebounding to knock off Sweet Briar 103-65. 

Alex Sanchez had a strong tri-meet, picking up a third in the 50-free, with a time of 32.56 and finishing fourth in the 100 free in 1:10.40. Hanna DeVarona was third in the 200-breatstroke while Emily Miehlke was second in the 200-free, touching in 2:26.86. 

Jules Brell grabbed points for the Green and Gold, picking up a third place in the 200 backstroke. In the 400 freestyle, Molly Sullivan grabbed fourth place, finishing the race in 5:47.24 while Summer Jaime also picked up a fourth place in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 3:27.39. 

What's Next

Hollins will be back in the pool next weekend as they head to Bridgewater for a tri-meet. They'll face off against Bridgewater College and Gallaudet.
