Event: Tennis - Hollins at Shenandoah (Winchester, VA)
The lead: After winning a shorthanded match against Trinity in Washington, DC on Saturday, Hollins wrapped up their two match road trip with a visit to Shenandoah on Sunday afternoon. Hollins looked to extend their current win streak that started against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Guilford College on March 21st.
The result: Hollins 5-4
How it happened: Hollins fell behind, 2-0, after the first two doubles matches at Shenandoah. The team of Anna Holland and Alexis Morring found themselves on the brink of defeat, 4-7, before a rally tied to match at 7-7. The tandem took the tie-breaker, 7-3, to cut the deficit to 2-1. In singles action, the Green and Gold won at #2, 3, 5, and 6 to rally for the 5-4 win over the Hornets. With the win, Hollins has won three straight matches overall and two in a row in conference play.
- Holland completed her personal sweep with a 6-2 and 6-4 win at #6 singles
- At #3 singles Sarah Jordan Snoddy won her third straight match and fourth out of her last five
- After not being able to travel yesterday due to academic commitment, Valerie Sargeant picked up a win at #2 singles
- Juliette Baek won at #5 for the second consecutive match and is a perfect 2-0 on the season
What's next: Hollins will continue on the road with a visit to Randolph-Macon on Thursday before returning home for a pair of ODAC matches over the weekend.
